Match report On Bank Holiday Monday Calne were away to Purton. Again they lost the toss and were put into bat, and on a gloomy, overcast morning, lost opening batsman Alex Bates with only 1 on the board. Some good accurate bowling from the Purton youngsters saw the Calne team struggle to accumulate runs and at 6 - 5 off 6 overs, the situation looked desperate. Then up stepped John Lenton-Jinks who hit an excellent 28 not out. With good support from the Calne lower order batters, who may not have scored many but were difficult to dislodge, the final total of 52 - 8 was very respectable given the predicament they were in. The Purton innings was quite remarkable in the fact that of the 53 runs required for victory, 4 were extras and the other 49 were hit by one player, no 3 batsman Elijah Samuel. The result never looked in doubt once he got into his stride, and they reached their total comfortably in the 11th over for the loss of only 1 wicket. Alex Bates bowled tidily taking 1 wicket for 2 runs off 3 overs.
