The 3rds played Melksham 2nd at Beversbrook in their first league game. Melksham batted first and made an impressive 209 all out, mainly due to a huge 141 from one of their new recruits (we need one of them!). Some impressive bowling from Ollie and Finn to open up with Jim taking a few and Ben Sutton finishing off the tail. I should add at this point this was the first competitive match all three Sutton's had played together.
After a top tea, Calne set about dismantling this daunting total. Steve Richards scored a fast paced 43 and with contributions from Jodie, Gareth and Shane Calne finished on 131-7 which whilst not enough to win the game was a good first outing.
Dare I say, if Mr Bew was not playing, i would have predicted a comfortable win. All in all a positive start to the season.
