Match report Four weeks into the season and win number one finally under our belts! Well done lads!

Skipper got back to normal ways by losing the toss (last week was obviously a blip). The opposition decided to put us in, and with lack of runs in previous weeks it probably looked like the right decision by the oppo captain.

After losing a couple of early wickets the Calne innings was dominated by a fantastic knock of 115 from Adam Woods. The ball was dispatched to all parts of the ground on a wicket that produced some very tennis ball like bounces from anything short of a length. The innings was supported by knocks of 28 from Ollie Moore and 48 from Rich Annett (relieved of the opening duties, inspired captaincy may have found the number 6 spot to be his). For the first time this season we managed to bat the 45 overs out, finishing with a score of 256-9. The pick of the Beehive bowlers being Randall who finished with figures of 12-2-34-4.

In reply the Beehive innings got of to a blistering start with the ball being sent 'all over the ground' (check the wagon wheel). This saw the beehive score race to 80-0 off just a 11 overs. Long spells of bowling from Phil Redmond and Jim Sutton got their deserves for spells that brought the game back in our favour. The number of times that the edge was beaten of false shots fell into gaps between fielders was unbelievable. But once, the breakthrough came the the flood gates opened. A series of good fielding supported th bowling attack with 5 catches being taken by keeper Ollie Moore, the stand out being a diving catch down the leg-side which removed top scorer Hill for 65. Two high catches to Bodman at mid-off of Redmond's bowling (even though Phil dropped one of his). But the pick of the catches came from Matty Richards, with a diving catch at cover which was surely one for the camera's! Beehives innings was finally ended on 160, with Sutton taking the final wicket to finsih with figures of 11.4-1-38-5...we are keeping track of the jug count! Redmond finishing with 12--1-58-4.
