Match report Some common traits continued throughout this game - a home game not actually at home (thanks to Cherhill CC), a toss lost by the captain (4 out of 5) and unfortunately a loss. In fairness Beckington will probably be the best team that we play this year and were also a good bunch of lads to go with it.

Asked to bat, a more solid start then we have had in previous wickets saw us lose only one wicket before drinks. Our innings was dominated by Todd 'I only score runs on a Sunday' Jenkins - who in typical fashion scored an entertaining 82. Unfortunately, there was no support from the tail end, which appeared to be more of a slide, seeing the innings come to a close on 139. The pick of the Beckington bowlers being Rustell (12-1-36-6) and Williams (2-0-6-3), tight and consistent bowling sooned cleaned up the innings. The legend of the famous 'Calne Collapse' continues!

An early wicket from Hall (5-0-32-1), gave some early hope but in honesty Rustell 85* and skipper Ashton 45* gave very few chances. Beckington finishing deserved winners in the 33rd over.

A game played in a very good spirit...even in miserable weather. Some positives to take, just waiting for it to click consistently to put a run of results together.
