Match report A beautiful sunny afternoon overlooked by the newly chalked white horse of Cherhill downs, saw a good match played out between Calne and Wanborough, Fernandez making his league debut this season made an impressive 44 after an early scare, superbly supported by Mr morgen who held the middle innings together, only sent on his way by a piece of brilliance in the field by the deft Steve watts, flicking the ball up with his feet and knocking down the stumps from 30 yards. Superb bowling spearhead figures by the young at year Lindsey Butler 3 for 18, helped by a nimble stumping by his slightly younger brother ( martin) who made a guest appearance behind the timber, aidly supported by the of quarter of young pretenders Jones ( on debut) Maloney, Batson & Batson). Following a hearty tea supplied the Butler younger ( with thanks) the innings took a a while to get going both openers suffering from the consumption of said tea. a strong partnership of 48 from the Batson brothers seems to start to turn the tide and The Wanborough boys started to look concerned, but to no avail. Our middle order tail wagged with James Wescott and Lindsey Butler seeing the consolation of passing the 125 milestone on the penultimate ball, to warm applause and cheers from the boundary edge. Despite a loss, a good day out for all. We move on to the White Horse Of Westbury to fight another day
