Match report In recent times pickings for Calne 3Xl against our closest of geographical rivals have been rather slim. 2015 saw a role reversal with Calne 3s delivering an emphatic victory by 9 wickets in the back yard of the old foe. Calne lossed the toss and the home team elected to bat fielding a depleted line-up of 8 but including the dangerous Griffin. Not with standing this, a masterclass of jonney-on-the-spot pace bowling by the ever impressive Axford (Younger) and the macurious Butler, who brought the Goatacre total to early completion, Butler achieving a second 5 wicket haul for for the season , including a stumping by Tom Chadwick making his wicket keeping debut, and his return to cricket after a 12 month absence - welcome back Tom. The biggest celebration was kept for Cameron when he bowled the Goatacre talisman Griffen, for the first time the role reversal of seasons past was in the grasps of the away team.

Tea was not taken, as it hadn't been finished... and the away team spearheaded by the Chadwick father and son opening partnership joined together to build a solid foundation and ensure there was no way back for the home side - Tom was joined by the bronzed Mathews returning from his own Greek adventure to see that the job was done. The game ended, a relaxing post match tea was taken, and the victorious Calne 3XL returned back to base camp. The Goat had been tamed.

Next week lead leaders Highworth are the visitors. The journey continues...
