Match report A breezy and damp morning greeted us on arrival at Biddestone and a quick dash for cover after setting out our chairs was not a promising start. Once the rain stopped we quickly did the coin toss and Lauren A tactically lost the toss. Biddestone elected to field first on a very damp outfield and skiddy Astro pitch. Rowan and Lauren P opened and did a magnificent job putting on 33 for the first wicket. Lauren A and Rowan continued with another execellent partnership of 32 with Rowan going on to score an extremely impressive and explosive 33 before having to retire. We kept the scoreboard ticking over steadily reaching a very competitive total of 85. At the start of Biddestones innings Charlie and Rowan opened with some very accurate and consistent bowling and both took a wicket in their first two overs. Harry and Oliver took over the attack and again bowled extremely well to restrict the run rate. All our players were given the opportunity to bowl, they performed admirably and made it very difficult for Biddestone to increase their run rate. In fact, they only hit two boundaries during their innings which is certainly testament to how well our girls and boys bowled and fielded. Actually I was blown away by how well we fielded taking several great catches (Lauren A, Dillon and Oliver) and a very sharp run out from a direct hit by Oliver. We reached the 15th over with Biddestone 5 wickets down requiring 26 runs for victory. At this point we raised our game and within the next two overs Biddestone lost 4 wickets including two fast and straight deliveries from Rowan in a row which knocked back the stumps. Another great wicket for Victoria and a run out saw us on the edge of victory. It was a fairly frantic last couple of overs which saw Biddestones last pair of batters perform very impressively under pressure to ultimately reach the required total for victory off the last ball. Overall I think we deserved a draw at the very least and in my opinion our girls and boys were victorious anyway because they performed so well and I am extremely proud of all of them. Looking forward to our next outing and another great game. To end I would also like to say a big thank you to Lauren A for being such an enthusiastic and great captain and to all parents for their support and taxi service!!!!!
