Match report Three weeks into the teams formation the third team have registered their first league victory! On a very blustery day at Devizes, Calne won the toss and it was chosen to bowl first. Good opening spells by Tom Clare (5-0-30-1) and Chris Lower (5-0-14-0) saw many chances created with the first wicket being taken by Tom in the 5th over, the Devizes innings was then re-built by P Stevens (17) and A Goodfield (25), which saw the Devizes score reach 55-1 by the 12th over. The 1st change in bowling brought the ever dependable Lindsay Butler in to the attack who again continued to put the ball consistently in the right place putting the batsmen in a great deal of problems. A great spell of bowling which returned excellent figures of 12-5-14-5. Lindsay Butler was well supported by another great spell of bowling (into a very strong wind) by Stu Windsor (6-1-15-3). By the time Phil Redmond (5.4-0-16-1) took the final wicket of the Devizes innings, this saw the score restricted to 100ao.
Calne's response to the target of 101 started well with 10 being scored of the first over before the 1st wicket fell in the 2nd over. This brought Stu Windsor to the crease, who backed up an excellent bowling display with a confident innings with the bat. Stu saw the team through to the 101 target with a fantastic 52*. Joplin bowled well for Devizes with figures of 9-1-24-2.
