Match report For the 2nd time this season, Calne 3's played KC Club 2's at Beversbrook. The KC skipper won the toss and elected to bat.
Tom Clare got an early brekthrough taking a wicket off the second ball of the game having Bennett caught at slip by Dan Farthing without troubling the scorer. At the other end, under 15 player Luke Simpkins again bowled tightly seeing his first spell return 5-4-1-1. A superb run-out by Stu Windsor and a wicket from Dave 'Mappa' Matthews (12-1-22-1) saw the KC score at 42-4, with only Letchner putting the bowlers under pressure with a quick fire 21. The KC innings was then re-built by a strong partnership between Crooks 54* and Crook 39, before the removal of Crook by Luke Simpkins who finished with figures of 9-4-14-2. A further run out by Sam White and a wicket from Matthew Waite (1-0-6-1) saw the KC innings finishing on 165-7.
In response, Calne 3's innings didn't got off to the greatest start, losing 3 wickets within the first 7 overs with the score on 23. The innings was then patiently re-built with a solid partnership of 40 between Stu Windsor (29) and Todd Jenkins(21). Again, once the breakthrough came wickets again continued to fall mainly due to the consistent bowling of Sanson (11-2-27-2) and the quick bowling of Letchner (12-1-49-4). With the score at 94-8 off 30 overs the target did seem out of reach. Some impressive hitting from Matthew Waite (36), supported by Dan Farthing (20*) got Calne close to target with a partnership of 58, before Waite was removed by the bowling of Sanson. Calne 3's finished 8 short of the score of KC but again did well to get so close and also put a lot of pressure on the opposition.

Again lads unlucky, but well done!
